Real Happiness Comes from Within.

Life isn’t really as easy as some people may make it sound. Sometimes, the world might feel totally overwhelming yet when you look around you find people who continue to live fascinating and wonderful lives.

This might lead to thought popping into your head and result in you asking yourself questions like; “How did their life become so adorably sweet? How come they still can manage to laugh and play around despite a busy and stressful life?”  The answer isn’t always clear but I believe everything starts with the aspect of one’s self.

The route to happiness.

So, how does one become genuinely happy? The first step would be to love yourself. I mean how do you achieve happiness if you don’t even love and appreciate your own being, for appreciating yourself makes it easy for you to grasp certain aspects related to happiness.

To love one ‘self means to accept that you are not a perfect being, but behind the imperfections must lie a great ounce of courage to be able to discover ways on how to improve your repertoire to recover from your mistakes.

Simple steps involved in becoming happy with our lives.

  • Real happiness also pertains to contentment. Being contented with the job you have, the way you look, with your family, your friends, the place you live in, your car, and all the things you now have – truly, you know the answer to the question “how to be genuinely happy.” Okay this doesn’t mean you should not strive to get the best for your lively hood and try improving your life, but it simply leaves you with the thought that you should be able to accept what you have as what you have.
  • With the advent of technology, fashion and social interactions being happy can be quite easy or be a complete drama. Take for example the stars we see on TV today; they always look so gracious, beautiful/handsome, happy, rich and like they got no worries in this world.  These leave you questioning life if it has ever done you any good, with a mindset like that you will never be able to find genuine happiness. Whereas the truth is these people you so greatly admire and think have perfect lives do have dark days too, they just don’t show it.
  • My belief about the world is that of finding out about right and wrong, trying and failing, winning and losing. These are things that happen as often as you inhale and exhale. Failure, in a person’s life has become as abundant and necessary as air. But this should not hinder us from becoming happy.
  • How to be genuinely happy in spite all these? Well just look at it this way, every time you exert effort to improve the quality of life and your being whether it is improving yourself, helping a relative, family or a friend, taking care of your sick dog, fail on board exams and trying again, just know life gives you equivalent points for that.
  • Another aspect I believe to be important to be able to achieve happiness is to be able to make the difference between what you need and what you want. Most at times we misunderstand and mix up this two situation and we end up being depressed or sad for not being able to attain these. The thing is to be totally sincere I haven’t been able to completely figure this out, but so far I have achieve a fair share of happiness filled with contempt and appreciation. So if you succeed to figure this out, trust me happiness is going to be part of your core being.
  •  Imagine life as a big score board like those which are used in the NFL games. Every time you take a step forward, you make scoring points. Wouldn’t it be nice to look at that board at the end of each game and think to yourself “Whew! I got a point today. I’m glad I gave it a shot.” instead of looking at it all blank and murmur “Geez, I didn’t even hit a score today. I wish I had the guts to try out. I could have won!” and then walk away. Always try and try again no matter the situation.
  • The people around you. People can be a great source of joy or sadness. As such make sure you are always surrounded by the people who can help you get there.

Nowadays we have to deal with a lot of phonies and we should be able to distinguish these from our real friends. True love is a viable source of happiness, get into that spot that leads to tough choices, see the outcome, for an unsuccessful one see how many people will be there to support you and believe in you then see too how many bailed on you when you fail.

Getting support and being supported in all times can be a great source of happiness provided it is real.

When you learn to accept yourself and your own faults you pass step 1 on “how to become genuinely happy”.

What really is happiness to you?

Driving expensive cars, living in luxury, having a very healthy stacked bank account and being famous is not real happiness even though a lot of people see theses as happiness nowadays. Sometimes, the most sought after prizes in life doesn’t always go to the fastest, the strongest, and the bravest or not even the best. So, how do you become genuinely happy?  Everyone has his own definition of ‘happiness’ right.

  • Happiness for a writer may mean launching as much best-selling books as possible.
  • Happiness for a basketball rookie may mean getting the rookie of the year award.
  • Happiness for a business man may mean success in business transactions and trades.
  • Happiness for a blogger may mean 1000, 000 views per day (that is pretty tempting to regard as happiness though, since am a blogger with way less than a 1000 views yet )
  • Happiness for a soccer play may mean signing the most expensive transfer of all seasons.

But yet in the end all these can’t really be happiness, they might act as happiness inducers but in reality they aren’t.

So, really now, how do we become genuinely happy? Simple you don’t have to have the best things in this world. It’s really about doing and making the best out of every single thing. When you find yourself smiling at your own mistake and telling yourself “Oh, I’ll do better next time”, you carry with you a flame of strong will power to persevere that may spread out like a brush fire. You possess a willingness to stand up again and try that will make you a genuinely happy person.

Take a look at our favorite stars they might gain much joy from achieving records, getting awards and many other things but whenever you watch their interviews or documentaries the end result when they are happy is not when they get all the stuff, instead it when they do the things the really care for and being with people they love and that care for them.

This brings me to the step which involves the people around you.

High fives for the friends in need because they are friends in deed.

When you learn to accept yourself and your own faults you pass step 1 on “how to become genuinely happy”.

For as long as you know how to accept others, you will also be accepted. For as long as you love and know how to love, you will receive love ten folds back. So get along with your loved ones, spend quality time together and laugh and enjoy the moments. You know laughter is the best medicine to life’s aches and pain. But most of us don’t know that the best kind of laughter is laughter over self. Coz then you don’t just become happy… you become free.”
